Heart Center of Nonthavej Hospital consists of physicians specializing in heart disease in different fields, including cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) physicians, etc. In addition, we have medical personnel specializing in nursing heart disease patients, i.e. nurses specially-trained for nurse heart disease patients, pharmacists and physical therapists.

Heart disease diagnosis
1. Electrocardiography: EKG is an initial heart examination. EKG records traces of cardiac electrical impulse which causes the heart to contract and pump blood. EKG indicates the heart rate and amplitudes and intervals, the size of the heart's chambers, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), ischemia stroke and infarction.
2. Echocardiography: Echocardiography is a kind of heart examination with sound waves. High frequency sound waves are sent through the heart to get cardiac echo which creates images of the heart. It effectively helps the physician in diagnosis, prediction, assessment of disease severity, and follow-up of heart and cardiovascular treatment, especially in the case of congenital heart disease, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathy, pericarditis, etc.
3. Exercise Stress Test: This test indicates whether the patient has ischemic stroke or not. The patient is required to walk on a treadmill to let the heart fully function. The electrical activity of the heart is monitored for low blood supply, which could be a symptom of ischemic stroke or coronary artery disease (CAD).
4. Holter monitoring ECG: Holter monitor is attached to the patient to measure and record the electrical activity of the heart continuously for 24-48 hours. The patient can return home and work normally. The examination detects irregular electrical activity of the heart, even with or without symptoms. It is suitable for patients suffering temporary palpitation, frequent fainting, dizziness, and strong heartbeat that were not detected when visiting the physician.
5. Electrocardiography for arrhythmia
6. Diagnosis by Coronary Angiography (CAG)
- Coronary angiography (CAG)
- Cerebral angiogram
- Peripheral angiogram
Heart disease treatment
Heart Center of Nonthavej Hospital is dedicated to providing care to all patients with high concern of their safety. We have 24-hour service. Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) will be treated by percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) within 90 minutes according to international standard.
Electrical conduction system of the heart
- Electrophysiology study and radiofrequency ablation treatment
- Permanent pacemaker insertion for patients with slow heart rhythm which can cause passing out or suddenly passing away. The permanent pacemaker is surgically implanted into the chest.
Cardiovascular disease treatment
- Cardiac catheterization and Coronary Angiography (CAG)
- Percutaneous transluminal coronary angiography is insertion of a balloon and/or stent into a narrowed coronary artery without open-heart surgery. The procedure requires the surgeon’s skills and experience and competent medical personnel to achieve a successful outcome.
Artery treatment
- Carotid artery angioplasty & stent
- Renal angioplasty & stent
- Peripheral artery angioplasty & stent
Congenital heart disease in adults
Congenital heart diseases include heart septal defects, Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) which require surgical treatment to prevent future complications, such as pulmonary infection and pulmonary hypertension, even though no symptom is presently detected.
- Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) closure
- Ventricular Septal Defect (ASD) closure
Cardiothoracic Surgery
Cardiovascular treatment
- Coronary artery bypass surgery with or without a heart–lung machine
- Coronary artery bypass surgery for patients who previously underwent the surgery
Heart valve treatment
- Valve replacement: Valve replacement is necessary if the heart valve is severely abnormal or damaged. The heart valve is made of metal, human tissue or animal tissue. Each type has different advantages and functions, which will be determined by the surgeon according to the patient’s condition. The surgery normally takes 4-6 hours.
- Valve repair: The surgery repairs heart valve disorder. The patients are not required to take anticoagulants which can possibly cause complications, including paralysis due to cerebral hemorrhage. The advantage of this procedure is that the heart valve is repaired using the patient’s own tissue.
Congenital heart disease in adults
- Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) closure
- Ventricular Septal Defect (ASD) closure
- Corrective surgery for one or more congenital heart defects
Artery treatments
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) open repair surgery
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) endovascular repair (EVAR)
- Thoracic aortic aneurysms endovascular repair
Medical services
- Heart disease diagnosis
- Cardiac surgery
- Electrocardiography
- Electrophysiology study
- 192 Slide CT Scan: In the past, the diagnosis of coronary artery calcium and plaques required catheterization and CT coronary angiography. Nowadays, catheterization and CT coronary angiography are no longer the only option. 192 Slide CT Scan allows physicians to check how narrow an artery is. Contrast material is injected into the patient’s arm and the patient needs to hold their breath for 12 seconds. A computer will create images of the coronary arteries. Then, the physicians will analyze how narrow the coronary arteries are, or what will be the best treatment or follow-up plan. The 192 Slide CT Scan is a highly precise initial diagnosis.
- Heart function checkup
- Therapy rooms for critical heart disease patients
Treatment programs
- Cardiovascular surgery
- Coronary Angiography (CAG)

- Balloon angioplasty for Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)
- Coronary Angiography (CAG) and balloon angioplasty
Rehabilitation for patients with heart and cardiovascular diseases
- Rehabilitation programs with physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) physicians and physical therapists
- Follow-up and recommendation on self-care at home
- Heart disease screening according to each patient’s risk factors
